Temple in the Qoricancha

This is one of the rooms of the Qoricancha. Once all the walls were covered in gold sheet but it was looted by the conquistadors. A series of niches in the walls are typical of Inca architecture and were used for display purposes. In some sacred sites mummies were displayed in such niches. Click image for larger photograph
