On the path up Mount Meru the trees are covered with the Old Man's Beard lichen which trails from most of the trees in the area. Our ranger is on the left with his rifle on the ground and our head guide sits nearby. Porters carry our kit-bags and the rest of the luggage on their backs, shoulders or heads, while two of our team look on.
