Alcock Tarn
Nikon D-50 - 18-55mm Nikkor lens

Alcock Tarn, originally known as Butter Crags Tarn, was enlarged with a dam, seen here on the right, by a Mr. Alcock in the nineteenth century. The fell on the left in the background in shadow is Seat Sandal. Just to its right is the prominence of Stone Arthur, visible from Grasmere. Just left of centre is the summit of Great Rigg. Across the tarn are the slopes of Heron Pike. Larger version of this picture.
