On the horizon, from the left are: the broad summit of Nethermost Pike; Helvellyn; Catstye Cam - Whiteside is hidden behind it; Raise; Stybarrow Dodd; Watson's Dodd, Great Dodd; Blencathra; and the lowly Bannerdale Crags and Bowscale Fell. St. Sunday Crag lies in front of Helvellyn, spawning two ridges to the right of it. The foremost comprises Gavel Pike and Lord's Seat and the one behind, extending to the centre of the picture, Birks. Behind Birks is Birkhouse Moor, whose ridge leads to Striding Edge and Helvellyn. In front of Watson's Dodd and Great Dodd is Green Side with a ridge coming down in front of it to Sheffield Pike. Hart Side lies in front of the leftmost top of Blencathra. In the foreground on the left the north ridge of Caudale Moor leads down to Hartsop Dodd. The reddish-coloured eminence, beyond it and to the right is Arnison Crag. Of the valleys, Deepdale is in front of St. Sunday Crag, Grisedale behind it and in front of Birkhouse Moor. The valley of Glenridding Beck is clear, between Birkhouse Moor and Sheffield Pike.
